WELCOME BOARD MEMBER, Michael Lenihan!

Michael is past president and board member of the North Andover Historical Society, past board co-chairperson of the Essex Art Center in Lawrence MA,  and is a current volunteer Commissioner on North Andover’s Old Center Historic District Commission.  Michael and his wife, Barbara, have been ‘stewards’ of the historic 1835 Daniel Stevens House on Osgood Street for over 25 years.  He also ran a specialized management consulting firm helping companies with their revenue and sustainability strategies.  In his spare time, he continues to hone his artist skills as a landscape painter having his art studio in his historic barn facing the North Andover Common.  

Michael enjoyed a 40+ year career in financial services where Michael held increasingly responsible positions in several global companies in both New York and Boston.    He led the formation of a product-management discipline ensuring best in class product life-cycle management across several business lines of a large financial institution.

While active in the corporate banking industry, Michael was a long-time volunteer board member and executive committee member of the New England Association For Financial Professionals, was a director and Chairman of New England Automated Clearing House Association with over 800 financial institution members, and was an active member and regular conference speaker of the Association for Financial Professionals for over 35 years.  Michael has published numerous articles on such financial topics as Impact of Basel III Regulations, Managing Core Bank and Rating Agency Relations, Utilizing Analytics to Manage Merchant Processing Costs, Cost Effective Cross Border Cash Movement, Innovations in Faster Payments, Can Banks be Trusted?, Shareholder Value vs Stakeholder Value-A Growing Gap, and How Tightening Accountability Helps Meet Strategic Goals.  He is writing a book “Watching the Edges”, a management guide.   He has been quoted in the Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the AFP Exchange.

Michael received his BS in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from Long Island University, attended the Adelphi University School of Money and Banking, and completed a Senior Executive Management Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
